7-Day Istanbul and Seven Churches of Revelation Tour
Day 1: Arrival in Istanbul
- Upon arrival in Istanbul, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel.
- The rest of the day will be free to rest after your journey or explore the surrounding area at your own pace.
- Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 2: Smyrna and Pergamon (Breakfast)
- After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Izmir.
- Upon arrival, you will begin the biblical part of the journey with a visit to Smyrna, modern-day Izmir, one of the Seven Churches addressed in the Book of Revelation. Your guide will explain the historical setting of the early Christian community and the message connected with Smyrna.
- You will then continue to Pergamon, another of the Seven Churches of Revelation. The ancient city was an important political and cultural centre of the Hellenistic and Roman periods. During the visit, your guide will explain the archaeological remains and the biblical references associated with Pergamon.
- At the end of the day, you will continue to your hotel.
- Overnight in the Pergamon or Izmir region.
Day 3: Thyatira, Sardis and Philadelphia (Breakfast)
- Today you will continue through western Anatolia, visiting three more cities associated with the Seven Churches of Revelation.
- Our first stop is Thyatira. It is located in modern-day Akhisar. Although only limited archaeological remains are visible today, the site is important for understanding the geography of the early Christian communities mentioned in Revelation.
- You will then continue to Sardis, once the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Lydia. Here, you will see the remains of the ancient city and learn about the message addressed to the church of Sardis.
- The final biblical stop of the day is Philadelphia, modern Alasehir. Your guide will explain the city’s place among the Seven Churches and the historical background of the early Christian community.
- After the visits, you will continue to Pamukkale.
- Overnight in Pamukkale.
Day 4: Hierapolis, Pamukkale and Laodicea (Breakfast)
- After breakfast, you will visit Hierapolis, an important ancient city built near the thermal springs of Pamukkale.
- You will see major remains including the theatre, necropolis, Roman baths and monumental gates before continuing to the white travertine terraces of Pamukkale.
- Later, you will visit Laodicea, the final city among the Seven Churches of Revelation on this part of the route. The ancient city has been extensively excavated and contains important remains from the Roman and early Christian periods.
- Your guide will explain the historical and biblical context of Laodicea before continuing to Kusadasi.
- Overnight in Kusadasi.
Day 5: Ephesus, House of the Virgin Mary and Basilica of St. John (Breakfast)
- Today you will visit Ephesus, one of the most important ancient cities in the Mediterranean and one of the Seven Churches of Revelation.
- You will walk along the marble streets and see major landmarks such as the Library of Celsus, Great Theatre, Temple of Hadrian and Agora. Your guide will also explain the role of Ephesus in early Christianity and its connection with St. Paul and the Book of Revelation.
- The tour continues to the House of the Virgin Mary, traditionally associated with the final years of Mary’s life.
- You will also visit the Basilica of St. John in Selcuk, built over the traditional burial place of John the Apostle.
- At the end of the tour, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Istanbul. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
- Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 6: Istanbul Old City Tour (Breakfast)
- Today you will explore the historic centre of Istanbul with your guide.
- The programme includes Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Roman Hippodrome, followed by Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar.
- Your guide will explain the Byzantine and Ottoman history of the city and how Istanbul developed as one of the most important centres of the Christian and Islamic worlds.
- The order of the visits may change according to opening hours, prayer times and local conditions.
- Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 7: Departure from Istanbul (Breakfast)
- After breakfast, you will have free time until your scheduled airport transfer.
- You will be picked up from your hotel according to the departure time of your international flight and transferred to the airport.
