Located near Şanlıurfa, Gobeklitepe is an extraordinary archaeological site dating back over 12,000 years to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic period. This ancient sanctuary features massive T-shaped limestone pillars, some reaching 5.5 meters high, decorated with intricate carvings of animals, totems, and mysterious symbols. It is believed to have been used for communal rituals and social gatherings. Gobeklitepe is the world's oldest known temple, predating iconic landmarks like Egypt's pyramids and Britain's Stonehenge. Still under excavation, this UNESCO World Heritage site offers unparalleled insights into early human civilizations and their social structures.
Founded between the 25th and 20th centuries BCE, Harran was a thriving hub of culture and commerce. Harran held religious and political importance because of its devotion to the moon god Sin. According to the Bible, Prophet Abraham lived here, and his father passed away in this ancient city.
Over centuries, Harran was shaped by various empires, including the Neo-Babylonian, Macedonian, Seleucid, and Roman. The first Islamic University built here is Harran's cornerstone of religious and educational history.
Itinerary
- We will pick you up from your hotel in Istanbul for a two-day Gobeklitepe and Harran Tour. Then, we will drive you to the airport for your flight to Şanlıurfa GAP Airport.
- Once we arrive, we'll head straight to Gobeklitepe, where you can see the ancient stone pillars and dive into the fascinating history of this incredible site.
- Afterward, we'll make our way to Şanlıurfa to visit the Şanlıurfa Archaeological Museum and the Haleplibahçe Mosaic Museum, where you'll discover stunning artifacts and mosaics that bring the past to life.
- We'll take you to your hotel in Şanlıurfa for an overnight stay.
- After breakfast, we'll drive to Harran.
- We will visit the ruins of Harran University, Harran Castle, and see the unique, conical-domed Harran Houses that make this ancient city so distinctive.
- As you wander through these sites, you'll learn about stories and architectural features that bring Harran's past to life.
- After the tour, we'll drive you to Şanlıurfa GAP Airport for your return flight to Istanbul.
- Once in Istanbul, a comfortable transfer will take you back to your hotel.

El recorrido inició puntual. Tuvimos la suerte de hacerlo casi de forma privada.
